English

This is the area of the English Language, where you can make a weekly monitoring of all contents worked in the classroom:

Course opinion:

In this 2nd year of Bachillerato the english subject wasn't really useful because my level was quite higher than the ones from the rest of the class. This doesn't I haven't learned a single thing, because Rose helped me with some sporadic mistakes I made in my essays which made my writing more comfortable to read. I also enjoyed the films we watched in class but that's what I usually do at home to practise my english, watch videos and series in english.

This year I also did the First Certificate exam which is by far harder than the english PAU exam so I feel really confident when it comes to this upcoming test.

English: First Term

1st Week:

We started the course with an irregular verbs exam. I think I did it pretty well but I can clearly improve my mark. I also think that this year is probably the one that I will find easier due to my classes at the academy.

2nd Week:

We spent the second week doing different activities such as writings or listenings. I don't find any problem with it because the exercises are similar to the ones I am practicing at the academy. On the other hand, we started a phrasal verbs sheet where we had a couple of activities. I found it really hard because phrasal verbs are probably the content I have worked the least.

3rd Week:

During the third week we studied the structure of a for and against essay. Then, we had to one as homework. Mine was good but I think I could have extended my opinion a little bit more. After that, in class, we corrected other students essay structure just to check if we did that well.

4th Week:

I did the first exam of the term. I didn't study for it cause the contents of it were not something you had to study. I ended up really happy with my writing because I used some things I learnt recently. My mark was 9'3, I'm quite glad of it.

5th Week

We started working on reported speech once again. I find it really boring because this is the third course we study it. I copied some theory and started doing "advanced" exercises with Simen. I only found a little bit harder the exercises where you had to transform questions from direct speech to reported speech.

6th Week and 7th Week

We finally finished working on the reported speech. i find it really easy because you only need to memorize some key things like the time tenses changes and other simple stuff. I'm ready for the exam of the next week.

8th Week

We did the second English exam. It went well just like the past one but I had to study a little bit of reported speech just in case there were some strange exercises on it. My mark was something around 9,2, pretty similar to the past one.

9th Week

We started working on Gerunds and Infinitive. I find it it really hard to do it if you think about an actual method for it to work. However, I can get most of them correct by pure instinct so that's what I do. I have also started reading the book that Rose gave me, which is called "The Ghost". I don't really like the first part of it so I hope that it gets better afterwards.

10th Week and 11th Week

We continued with the Gerunds and Infinitive. We did also watched some videos which helped me to improve my listening skills. I have finished the book but I think I will have to revise some points because I may forgot them before the next exam.

12th Week

We did the last exam of the term. I also did my First Certificate exam on this week so it was a little bit messy for me. The exam was quite easy because after reading again a big part of the book I realized that it was better than I thought. I hope my final mark is a 9 but I know I can make a bigger effort on the subject.
